Option 1: Take an online QZ (5pts QZ grade for each)

Option 2: Create a tutoring video (20 pts Test grade or other category)
  • was there a topic, idea or concept that you really understood for Biology and you can teach it (explain it) to someone else?
    • create a short video (5min max) to explain the process of:
      • the water cycle, carbon, nitrogen etc (what happens, where do these elements go and come from, and how are they used?)
      • food chains or webs (how to draw them and label them)
      • Pyramid of energy or numbers (how to draw them and label them)
      • atomic structure (where do the electron go, where are the protons, neutrons etc)
      • how to balance chemical equations
      • how to determine the pH of stuff around your house
      • Other: any thing that you are able to do or have tried and you can relate it science
        (be creative)

Option 3: (20pts- Project Grade)
  • Using the sources below or any other resource:
    Article Resources:
    Science Daily
    Science News
    Science News for Kids
    • Look for an article that interests you. Read it an write a brief report on the article.

Current Event Requirements:
  1. Article must be current (this year 2012)
  2. The report is 2 paragraphs (maybe one page typed). The third paragraph is not a paragraph, it simply the citing of your resource.
  3. Email me your report and copy and paste the Web URL of the article into your report for me to look it up.
  4. Cite your article.
  5. Do not plagiarize.


Option 4: (5pts for trying- Test grade)
1. Go to Study Island.
2. Log in with your username and password (you need to ask me for this, you can email me: elopez@discoveryprep.org)
3. Go to Science TAB.
4. Click on Biology program
5. Take the Pretest-Biology
6. Notify me that you have taken the Pretest
